A Message From the Plain Township Board of Trustees

The Plain Township Board of Trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the year long Plain Township Bicentennial celebration. As 2009 comes to a close, and we examine Plain Township’s story, our community is fortunate to have enjoyed the opportunity to commemorate our rich history and heritage.

We may now take stock of the Bicentennial, which is nearing its conclusion. It truly was a year long celebration, beginning with the kickoff dinner, where we enjoyed fellowship, shared stories, and told the tales of Plain Township's past. We celebrated earth day together, enjoyed summer activities for the whole family including a car show and cruise in. We joined together for a parade and festival celebrating our Township’s community pride and unity. Residents enjoyed historic tours of the township, participated in fire prevention day, and lit the community Christmas tree at Diamond Park. We rang the church bells, toured the cemeteries, planted trees, honored our veterans, and commemorated those citizens who endeavored to make our Township a great place to live, work and worship.

The Board would like to give special recognition to Bicentennial Chairman, Stark County Recorder Rick Campbell. His tireless efforts made the Township’s Bicentennial celebration come to life. We would also like to recognize The Plain Township Historical Society, who has faithfully chronicled the story of our community. Their support and dedication was instrumental to the success of the Bicentennial.

Plain Township also enjoyed the support of our sponsors, who turned this vision for community celebration into a reality. The Board of Trustees would like to thank Mercy Medical Center, Pepsi Bottling Co., Mix 94.1 and News Talk 1480 WHBC, The Repository, Arthur Middleton Capital Holdings, Rice’s Nursery, Abbott Electric, Almost Heaven Ice Cream, Chick-Fil-A, Denise Evans, Realtor with Cutler Real Estate, DJ Mike Pfouts, Dansizen Printing, David Williams, Dr. Wraps, Grinders Above & Beyond, Haidet’s Glass Co., Linda Gambol, Realtor Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, Humbert Sanitary, Huntington Insurance, Kraus’ Pizza, Len Sedon, DDS, Lou Giavasis, M.E. Companies, McIntosh Oil Co., Plain Olde Hardware, Sign Pro, Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Homes, Sugarbush Kennels and Warstler Brothers.

The Board of Trustees would also like to recognize the Department Heads and all of the employees of Plain Township who worked non-stop and above and beyond their normal duties for the Bicentennial events.

Most importantly, the Plain Township Board of Trustees would like to thank the residents of Plain Township, past and present, who have built our community into a source of civic pride for 200 years.

Thank you.
