Rob Steinberg, Plain Township Parks Programming/Community Outreach Director

Rob Steinberg
Parks Programming/Community
Outreach Director
Rob Steinberg has been named Plain Township Parks Programming/Community Outreach Director. Steinberg brings with him a litany of prior experience and proven results in the field he will now oversee for the township.

Steinberg comes from the Canton Charge, the NBA Development League team owned and operated by Dan Gilbert and the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he served as the Corporate Community Development Director. Steinberg was tasked with creating, building, maintaining, and identifying corporate community partnerships for the Charge in the Greater Stark County area. Prior to his work with the Charge, Steinberg spent 2012 as the Canton Marathon Managing Director. In this capacity, he oversaw day to day operations including event(s), logistics, operations, safety coordination, and volunteers while implementing ancillary promotional programs, securing vendors, and ensuring runner safety. From 2008-2011, Steinberg was the Canton Stark County Convention & Visitors' Bureau Sports Promotions Manager. He organized and headed the committee for the OHSAA State Football Finals Weekend, helped lead the host committee operations for the Junior World Football Championships, and solicited, promoted, and executed sports events in the county that created economic development opportunities for facilities, hotels, restaurants, and attractions. Steinberg began his professional career as a Varsity Swim Coach and Pool Supervisor for the Canton City Schools.

Rob Steinberg is a 1995 graduate of North Canton Hoover High School, spent four years at Cleveland State University pursuing a communications degree, and participated as a member of the CSU men's varsity swim teams, which won the MCC conference championships in 1998 and 1999. Steinberg finished his degree and undertook post graduate work at Walsh University between 2002 and 2008. He is married to wife, Jenna, an Oakwood Middle School counselor.

Steinberg will be tasked with parks programming and community outreach. He will actively work to create partnerships locally, regionally, and nationally while seeking events that create additional revenue streams for the parks as well as economic development opportunities for the Plain Township community. These events will utilize township facilities, hotels, restaurants, and businesses when possible so Plain Township may reap the economic benefits of these efforts. Mr. Steinberg will also look to create new local programming initiatives with growth potential and develop partnerships across the township to enhance health and wellness opportunities for all Plain Township residents. Revenue streams created through new enterprises will allow for park enhancements and renovations, and help brand Plain Township as a desirable place to live, work, and play. These efforts will greatly enhance Plain Township's ability to create a self-sufficient, stand-alone budget for all three township parks, while eliminating the need to tax Plain's citizens with a parks levy now, or in the future.
